Sunroof Insert, Cleaning And Lubricating
Hold a cloth under the respective place to protect the vehicle interior from getting dirty.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Brush
- Fine-pored sponge
- Shop vacuum, for example, Wet And Dry Vacuum Cleaner
- Adhesive lubricating paste G 060 751 A2
- Special Krytox lubricating paste G 052 141 A2
- Cleaning solution D 009 401 04
Paint brush (approximately 15 mm wide) (bend approximately 40°).
Use a fine-pore sponge to apply the Krytox lubricating paste, for example, a home sponge without a scrubbing pad attached to it.
Clean and Coat the Glass Panel Seal
-- Install the glass sunroof panel.
-- Remove grease and dirt residue on the glass panel seal -arrow- using cleaning solution D 009 401 04 and a lint-free cloth.
-- Coat the glass panel seal -arrow- as far as possible with a >>thin<< layer of special lubricating paste G 052 141 A2 using a commercially available paint brush.
-- Open the sunroof panel completely.
-- Clean the front glass panel seal using cleaning solution D 009 401 04 and a lint-free cloth.
-- Grease the glass panel seal with a "thin" layer of special lubricating paste G 052 141 A2 using a fine-pored sponge.
After applying, make sure that make sure that no rough deposits of the special lubricating paste are visible.
Clean and Lubricate the Wind Deflector Seal
- Open the glass panel all the way.
It is not necessary to remove the wind deflector.
Carefully lift the wind deflector by hand for the following work procedures. Caution: it can break.
-- Remove grease and remaining dirt from the wind deflector seal -arrow- with cleaning solution and a lint-free cloth.
-- Apply the special Krytox grease G 052 141 A2 "thinly" on the entire length of the rubber lip on the wind deflector -arrow- using a fine-pored sponge.
After applying, make sure that make sure that no rough deposits of the special lubricating paste are visible.
Clean and Lubricate the Guide Rails
- Open the glass panel all the way.
-- If necessary, remove sand and fine pollen from the guide rails with a shop vacuum.
-- Remove any grease and remaining dirt on the guide rail with a lint-free cloth.
-- Apply the adhesive lubricating paste G 060 751 A2 with a paint brush on the inside of the guide rail -arrow-.
-- Apply the adhesive lubricating paste G 060 751 A2 with a paint brush on the outside of the guide rail -arrow-.
-- Apply the adhesive lubricating paste G 060 751 A2 with a paint brush on the side of the guide rails for the sliding headliner -arrow-.
-- Remove any excess lubricant with a lint-free cloth.
-- Repeat the cleaning and closing procedures on the opposite side of the vehicle.
-- Open and close the sunroof completely and check for remaining grease one more time.
