Removing And Installing
Removing Cylinder Bank 1 (Right)
-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING .
-- Free up the fuel line -4- and the line -1- from the EVAP canister on the air filter housing and air guide pipe.
-- Remove the vacuum hose -2-.
-- Remove the air guide pipe by loosening the hose clamp -3- and opening the clamps -arrows-.
-- Remove the air filter housing lower section. Refer to LOWER AIR FILTER HOUSING .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the connector strip.
-- Push the connector toward the ignition coil, open the lock by hand and connect the connector to the ignition coils.
-- Move the wiring harness slightly down.
Ignore items -1 and 2-.
Removing Cylinder Bank 2 (Left)
There are different coolant reservoirs installed.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the coolant reservoir.
-- Disconnect the connector from the Engine Coolant Level Warning Switch -F66- at the bottom of the coolant reservoir and move the coolant reservoir to the side with the coolant hoses -1 through 3- still connected.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- from the coolant reservoir.
-- Disconnect the connector for the Engine Coolant Level Warning Switch -F66- on the bottom of the coolant reservoir and move the reservoir with the coolant hoses still connected -1- and -2- to the side.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the connector strip.
-- Push the connector toward the ignition coil, open the lock by hand and connect the connector to the ignition coils.
-- Move the wiring harness slightly down.
Ignore items -1 through 3-.
Continuation for Both Sides
-- Position the Ignition Coil Puller T40039 only on the topmost thick rib -arrow- and pull the ignition coils one after the other off the spark plugs.
-- Remove the spark plugs with Spark Plug Removal Tool VAS 3122B.
Installing
-- Use the Spark Plug Removal Tool VAS 3122B to tighten the new ignition coils to specification.
-- Lubricate the ignition coils. Refer to IGNITION COIL, LUBRICATING .
-- Align all the ignition coils one after the other and insert them loosely into the spark plug shaft.
-- Press the ignition coils evenly onto the spark plugs by hand. Do not hit them.
-- Connect the connector to the ignition coil until it clicks into place.
-- Tighten the screws to the tightening specification.
-- Installation is the reverse of removal.
-- Install engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING .
