Power Steering System, Checking For Leaks And Fluid Level And Adding Fluid

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Power steering fluid G 004 000
NOTE:
The fluid level is correct only when the cap is on.
- Cold Power steering fluid (approximately 68°F (20°C)):
-- With engine not running, turn the front wheels in straight-ahead position.
-- Remove the cap.
-- Clean the dipstick with clean cloth.
-- Screw cap on hand-tight and remove again.
The fluid level must be in -A- range.
- Warm Power steering fluid (approximately 176°F (80 °C))
-- Remove the cap.
-- Clean the dipstick with clean cloth.
-- Screw cap on hand-tight and remove again.
The fluid level must be in the -B- range.
NOTE:
If fluid level is above specified range, then some fluid must be siphoned off.
CAUTION:
If the fluid level is below the specified level, check the hydraulic system for leaks. It is not sufficient just to add fluid (Repair Procedure).
