Panorama Sunroof, Cleaning And Lubricating

CAUTION:

Hold a cloth under the respective place to protect the vehicle interior from getting dirty.

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

NOTE:

Paint brush (approximately 15 mm wide) (bend approximately 40°).

Use a fine-pore sponge to apply the Krytox lubricating paste, for example, a home sponge without a scrubbing pad attached to it.

-- Open the glass panel all the way.

Cleaning the Glass Panel Edges

-- Remove any remaining grease and dirt on the front and side edges of the glass panel -arrows- using the cleaning solution D 009 401 04 and a lint-free cloth.

Roof Frame Seal, Sealing and Lubricating

-- Remove any grease and dirt residue on the roof frame seal -arrows- using cleaning solution D 009 401 04 and a lint-free cloth.

-- Thinly apply the special lubricating paste G 052 141 A2 with a fine-pored sponge on the roof frame seal -arrows-.

NOTE:

After applying the special lubricating paste, make sure that no rough deposits are visible.

NOTE:

Repeat all of the steps described in the following on the opposite side of the vehicle.

Clean and Lubricate the Guide Rails

-- If necessary, remove sand and fine pollen from the guide rails with a shop vacuum.

-- Insert the cleaning and lubricating tool in the rear of the guide rail -1- and turn it 90° into the rail profile -2-.

-- Move it into the center of the guide rail opening -3-, turn it 90° again -4- and remove the tool -5-.

-- Same as the previous step, clean the front area of the guide rail. To do this, insert the cleaning and lubricating tool in the front of the guide rail (near the wind deflector) and move to the center of the guide rail.

-- Perform several times depending on the amount of debris in the opening.

-- Remove the collected grease and remaining dirt from the guide rail with a lint-free cloth.

-- Turn the cleaning- and lubricating tool -1- onto the thread for the lubricant cartridge G 060 751 A2 -2- and insert into the cartridge gun VAG 1628 -3-.

-- Insert the cartridge gun with the cleaning- and lubricating tool at the front of the guide rail -1- and turn 90° into the rail profile -2-.

-- Move the cartridge gun evenly to the rear -3- and while constantly operating the trigger, apply the adhesive lubricating paste G 060 751 A2 into the guide rail.

-- Turn the cartridge gun 90° -4- and remove near the open glass panel -5-.

Clean and Lubricate the Slotted Guide Rail Guide

-- Remove the grease and remaining dirt on the slotted guide rail guide with a lint-free cloth.

-- Open and close the sunroof and completely open the glass panel again.

NOTE:

The opening and closing movements distribute the lubricant in the guide rails. Any collected and excess lubricant can be used to lubricate the slotted guide rail guide.

-- Apply the adhesive lubricating paste G 060 751 A2 with a paint brush into the slotted guide rail guide -arrow-.

-- Remove any excess lubricant on the slotted guide rail guide and in the guide rail with a cloth.

Cleaning and Lubricating the Sunroof Motor Locking Hook

-- Position the glass panel.

-- From the vehicle interior: remove any remaining grease and dirt on the sunroof motor locking hook with a lint-free cloth.

-- Apply the adhesive lubricating paste G 060 751 A2 on the sunroof motor locking hook -arrow- with a paint brush.

-- Remove any excess lubricant with a lint-free cloth.

-- Open and close the sunroof completely and check for lubricant deposits once more on all lubrication places.

Check the Water Drain for Debris

-- Open the glass panel all the way.

-- Pour water into the guide rail near the open glass panel -arrow- using a measuring container -1-.

NOTE:

Proceed carefully so that the water does not run over into the interior.

Make sure that the water is distributed in both directions so that both water drains can be checked.

-- Check on the underside of vehicle to see if the water comes out in the front and rear wheel housing areas.

-- If no water comes out at the respective areas: Clean the water drains. (repair procedure).
