Selector Mechanism, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the front muffler or the front exhaust pipe. Refer to FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for engine code CALA, FRONT MUFFLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for engine codes CCBA, CGXC, CTUB, or FRONT EXHAUST PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for engine codes CAED, CAEB, CPMB, CPMA. .

-- Remove the ball socket -1- on the selector lever cable from the selector shaft lever using the Pry Lever 80-200.

-- Remove the bolts -2- from the cable mounting bracket.

-- Free up the selector lever cable.

NOTE:

Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

Ignore -arrow-.

-- Remove the Multimedia System Control Head -E380-. Refer to Multimedia System Control Head -E380-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the front ashtray. Refer to FRONT ASHTRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the connectors -2 and 4-.

-- Remove the insulation mat over the shift mechanism.

NOTE:

The illustration does not show the insulation mat.

A second technician is needed to remove the shift mechanism under the vehicle.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 3, 5 and 6-.

NOTE:

Depending on the version, the clips -arrows- may not be installed so the shift mechanism may fall down after removing the bolts.

-- Remove the selector mechanism downward.
