Secondary Air Injection Combination Valves, Checking For Function And Leaks, Market-Specific 1

Procedure

Hose connections properly sealed.

-- Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to OVERVIEW - BULKHEAD .

Right Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve:

-- Free up the fuel line -1- and the wire -2- to the EVAP canister at the air guide pipe.

-- Remove the vacuum hose -3- from the connection on the air guide pipe.

-- Remove the air guide pipe by loosening the hose clamp -4- and opening the clips -arrows-.

Continued for both sides:

-- Remove the bolts -2- and push the secondary air hoses to the side.

NOTE:

Ignore -item 1-.

-- Connect the hose -arrow- to the secondary air combination valve as illustrated.

-- Blow lightly into the assisting hose by mouth, do not use compressed air.

The secondary air injection combination valve must be closed and it must not be possible to blow through it.

-- Blow forcefully into the assisting hose by mouth, do not use compressed air.

The secondary air injection combination valve must open and it must be possible to blow through it.

-- If the switch point cannot be detected, replace secondary air injection (AIR) combi-valve: for left side, refer to SECONDARY AIR INJECTION LEFT COMBINATION VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MARKET-SPECIFIC 1 , and for right side, refer to SECONDARY AIR INJECTION RIGHT COMBINATION VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MARKET-SPECIFIC 1 .

Assembling

Assemble in reverse order of disassembling. Note the following:

NOTE:

The hose connections as well as the air guide pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory.

In order to be able to securely mount the air guide hoses on their connectors, spray the screws on the previously used clamps with a rust remover.

-- Install the plenum chamber bulkhead. Refer to OVERVIEW - BULKHEAD .
