Selector Lever Handle, Removing And Installing: Installing

NOTE:

In order to install the selector lever handle, the locking button must be pulled out all the way and secured either with a cable tie -arrow- or with the assembly tool supplied with a new handle.

Do not use mechanical aids or tools to remove from the selector lever handle if the locking button was unintentionally left unsecured. Position the compressed air gun under the handle and press the locking button out with compressed air.

-- Clamp on the new clamps -arrow- onto the selector lever handle.

-- Install the shifter lever handle completely on the shifter lever. The lock button faces toward the driver.

The handle must lock into the selector lever ring groove.

-- Remove the cable ties or assembly aids. The locking button mechanism will engage in the vertical groove on the selector lever. Press the locking button into the selector lever handle if necessary.

-- Move the selector lever into "R" and "S" to check the function of the buttons.

If the selector lever positions cannot be reached, remove the handle again. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Secure the selector lever handle -2- to the selector lever with the clamp -arrow-. Use Hose Clamp Pliers VAG1275.

-- Install the selector lever boot frame -1- to the center console.
