Receiver/Dryer, Removing And Installing: Installing

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 18 other vehicles, including the 2016 Audi S4, 2016 Audi A4 Quattro, 2016 Audi A4, 2015 Audi S4, and 2015 Audi A4 Quattro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:

NOTE:

Follow the instructions for installing the O-rings. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT SEALS .

Keep the receiver/dryer closed as long as possible. Only remove the cap immediately prior to installation (the receiver/dryer contains a desiccant bag which quickly becomes saturated with moisture and unusable when the receiver/dryer is open).

-- Clean the condenser surface -C-.

-- Check the connections on the condenser and on the receiver/dryer for damage.

-- Replace the seals -D- and the o-rings -E-.

-- Coat the O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil before installing. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT SEALS .

-- Make sure the O-ring fits correctly inside the grooves -arrows- on each mount.

-- Mount the receiver/dryer -B- on the condenser and tighten the screws.

-- Pull the protective sleeve -A- over the connection.

Vehicles with charge air cooler, installed under the condenser:

-- Install the condenser. Refer to CONDENSER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

All:

-- Install the front noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

NOTE:

Depending on the vehicle version, it may be necessary to remove the bumper cover in order to remove the front noise insulation (for example, on the Audi A4 allroad). Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .

-- Install the air guide on the intermediate flange for the air filter housing. Refer to OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING for 2.0L, OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING for 3.0L, or OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING for 3.2L (vehicle with gasoline engine).

-- Install the cover on the lock carrier. Refer to OVERVIEW - LOCK CARRIER .

-- Evacuate the refrigerant circuit and fill it. Refer to USING SERVICE STATION , or USING SERVICE STATION for Hybrid.

-- Install the remaining removed components.

-- Turn on the ignition.

-- Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic Control Module -- display and control head and erase any displayed malfunctions, if necessary using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding  " function.

-- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, STARTING OPERATION AFTER FILLING REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

NOTE:

Observe the information regarding operating the A/C system after filling. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, OPERATING AFTER CHARGING (Refrigerant R134a, Servicing; A/C System, General Information). After charging the A/C system before activating the A/C system.
