Overview - Center Differential

CAUTION:
Danger of causing damage to the transmission.
- Do not start or tow the vehicle when the center differential is removed or when the gear oil has been drained.
- O-Ring
- Replacing
- Coat with transmission fluid
- Center Differential
- Ball Bearing
- For the center differential
- Removing and installing. Refer to CENTER DIFFERENTIAL BALL BEARING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Circlip
- For the flange shaft ball bearing
- Circlip
- For the flange shaft
- Ball Bearing
- For the rear flange shaft
- Removing and installing. Refer to REAR FLANGE SHAFT BALL BEARING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Sealing Plug
- 35 Nm
- For the oil filler hole in the center differential housing
- Replacing
- Center Differential Housing
- Removing and installing. Refer to CENTER DIFFERENTIAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Seal for the Rear Flange Shaft
- Removing and installing. Refer to REAR FLANGE SHAFT SEAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Rear Flange Shaft
- Removing and installing. Refer to REAR FLANGE SHAFT SEAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- When replacing the rear flange shaft, also replace the seal
- Allocate the correct components .
- Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 2
- Replacing
-- Tighten the center differential housing bolts in three steps as follows:
-- Pretighten the bolts -1 and 2- to 3 Nm.
-- Tighten bolts to 8 Nm in -1 to 6- sequence.
-- Tighten the bolt in the following sequence: -1 through 6- plus 90° additional turn.
