Overview - Infotainment System, Japan, Through 11/03/2008

The data for the infotainment, telephone, navigation, voice control system, audio players, sound system and Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface -J533- is transmitted via the fiber optic MOST Bus.

The connection to the other data busses in the vehicle is provided by the Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface -J533-.

The central control unit is the Front Information Display Control Head Control Module -J523-. The signals required to display information on the instrument cluster display are transmitted via the MOST Bus to the Front Information Display Control Head Control Module -J533- and from there via the CAN Bus to the instrument cluster.

Fault finding is performed via "Guided Fault Finding  " see Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

  2. Steering Column Electronics Control Module -J527- on steering column at steering column switch
  3. TV Tuner -R78- behind the left luggage compartment side trim panel
  4. Navigation System with CD Drive Control Module -J401- behind luggage compartment left side trim
  5. Digital Sound System Control Module -J525- behind the luggage compartment left side trim
  6. External Audio Source Connection -R199- in the glove compartment
  7. CD Changer -R41- in the instrument panel

    External Audio Source Connection -R199- (AUX IN) inside the center console storage compartment

  8. Radio -R- behind the left luggage compartment side trim panel
  9. Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface -J533- Behind the Glove Compartment On the Left Side
  10. Front Information Display Control Head Control Module -J523-, behind the instrument panel
  11. Multimedia System Control Head -E380- in the front of the center console
  12. Front Information Display Control Head -J685- in center of the instrument panel
  13. Instrument Cluster Control Module -J285- in the instrument panel

Notes on MOST bus

The optical Data bus "MOST bus" is used in addition to the CAN bus.

A fiber-optic cable is used as a "connecting cable". Fiber optic cables are routed inside corrugated tubes for protection.

Replace complete fiber optic cable if possible.

Make sure that the face surfaces of the connectors do not become soiled.

If disconnecting the connectors: Attach Fiber-Optic Repair Set - Connector Protective Caps VAS6223/9.

When installing fiber optic cables, make sure not to go below the minimum bending radius of 25 mm. Do not crush or kink fiber optic cables.
