Selector Lever Cable: Removing
-- Press the button to the parking brake to lock the electro-mechanical brake.
-- Move the selector lever into D.
-- Pry out the selector lever boot using the 3409 or a small screwdriver -arrows- and then fold it upward.
-- Insert the T40031 through the opening -arrow- in the selector mechanism and loosen the bolt on the selector lever cable one turn.
Only loosen the clamping screw - do not remove it.
The clamping screw is only accessible when the selector lever is in D.
The selector lever must remain in D when the clamping screw is loose.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the driveshaft heat shield -1- (if equipped).
-- Remove the ball socket -1- on the selector lever cable from the selector shaft lever using the Pry Lever 80-200.
-- Remove the clip -2- and remove the selector lever cable from the transmission.
Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
-- Remove the heat shield -1- (if equipped) under the selector mechanism function unit. Refer to OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD
-- Remove the 4 lock washers -1-, if equipped.
Replace the lock washers.
-- If equipped, remove the noise insulation -2-, slide it forward and remove it from the selector lever cable.
-- Remove the circlip -1- from the selector lever cable.
-- Remove the selector lever cable -2- from the selector mechanism.
