Vacuum Pump, Removing And Installing, V6 FSI

The vacuum pump is installed in the engine compartment at the front and on the left side in the driving direction.

Removing

-- Remove the engine covers carefully from the retaining pins, one after another.

-- Loosens the hose clamp on the vacuum hose.

CAUTION:

Do not damage the vacuum hose. Replace the vacuum hose if damaged.

-- Remove the vacuum hose form the vacuum pump.

-- Remove all the screws on the vacuum pump sealing flange.

-- Remove the vacuum pump from the mount.

installing

NOTE:

Replace the seal.

Make sure the seal is correctly installed.

-- Position the vacuum pump tappet so it engages in the groove on the camshaft when vacuum pump is installed.

-- Insert the vacuum pump.

-- Make sure the seal is seated correctly.

-- Install and tighten all the bolts on the vacuum pump sealing flange, refer to Figure, -item  1- Bolt.

-- Push the new hose clamps over the vacuum hose.

-- Push the vacuum hose over the connection to the vacuum pump.

-- Compress the hose clamp on the vacuum pump connections with pliers.

-- Carefully install the engine covers into the retaining bolts one after the other.
