Vacuum Pump, Removing And Installing, 2.0L TDI Diesel Engine
Removing
The vacuum pump is installed in the engine compartment facing the rear -arrow-.
-- Carefully remove the engine cover.
The plenum chamber bulkhead does not have to be removed.
-- Remove the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor -1- on the bracket.
-- Disconnect the wire -2- from the pressure sensor and carefully move it to the side.
-- Remove the pressure sensor bracket on the vacuum pump.
-- Remove the coolant pipe on the bracket and on the left engine transport strap and push it to the side.
-- Remove vacuum hose -1- from vacuum pump.
-- Remove all the bolts on the vacuum pump sealing flange.
-- Remove the vacuum pump from the mount.
installing
Replace the seal.
Make sure the seal is correctly installed.
-- Position the vacuum pump tappet so it engages in the groove on the camshaft when vacuum pump is installed.
-- Insert the vacuum pump.
-- Make sure the seal is seated correctly.
-- Install and tighten all the bolts -arrows- on the vacuum pump sealing flange, refer to Figure, -item 1- Bolt.
-- Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum pump.
-- Install the coolant pipe into the bracket and to the left engine transport strap.
-- Install the diesel particulate filter pressure sensor bracket to the vacuum pump.
-- Tighten the bracket.
-- Install the pressure sensor lines into the bracket.
-- Tighten the pressure sensor -1-.
-- Install the engine cover.
