Brake Caliper Piston, Removing And Installing, Ceramic Brakes 1LW: Installing

WARNING:

The brake pistons have different diameters. When re-installing, make sure that the respective brake piston is inserted in the correct hole in the brake caliper. The ceramic inserts on the brake pistons serve as heat insulators and must not be removed from the pistons. If the ceramic inserts are damaged, the brake pistons must be replaced for safety reasons.

-- The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.

-- Apply a thin coat of Lithium Grease G 052 150 A2 to the piston and seal before inserting.

-- Insert oil seal in brake caliper housing.

-- Install protective cap on piston.

-- Push piston into brake caliper housing using constant pressure.

The protective cap must be seated properly in the groove, push slightly farther if necessary.

-- Install the brake caliper on the ceramic brakes. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, CERAMIC BRAKES 1LW .

NOTE:

Brake pipe line in brake caliper: 19 Nm.

Brake line connection to brake pipe line: 14 Nm.

-- Bleed the brake system. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM .

CAUTION:

Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
