Brake Rotor, Removing And Installing, 1LM: Removing

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 18 other vehicles, including the 2016 Audi S4, 2016 Audi A4 Quattro, 2016 Audi A4, 2015 Audi S4, and 2015 Audi A4 Quattro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the wheels.

-- Push the brake pads back slightly.

The brake pistons with the old pads still installed can pressed back to allow all brake pistons in the brake caliper to be pressed back evenly using pliers.

NOTE:

Be careful not to damage the coating on the brake caliper and on the brake pads.

Before pushing back the piston, extract some of the brake fluid out of the brake fluid reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair work.

-- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, 1LM .

Secure the brake caliper to the vehicle with a suitable wire. Do not support the weight of the brake caliper with the brake hose.

-- Remove the bolt -1- from the brake rotor.
