Brake Caliper, Replacing, 1LA, 1LB, 1LJ And 1LD 1ZT + S4 /S5: Installing

Use new bolts.

-- Position the brake carrier.

-- Secure the brake carrier with new bolts -3-.

NOTE:

Before inserting the brake pads, clean the retaining pin for the brake pads -arrows- and apply a thin layer of grease . When doing this, do not allow any grease to get on the rubber components. Clean the rubber components of grease.

-- Install the brake pads. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, 1LA, 1LB, 1LJ AND 1LD 1ZT + S4 /S5 .

-- Install the brake pressure line -5- in the brake caliper and tighten.

-- Remove the Brake Pedal Actuator VAG1869/2.

NOTE:

Only bleed the brakes on the wheel which had the brake caliper replaced.

-- If there is insufficient brake pressure, bleed the brake system. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM .

-- Install the wheels.

Wheel bolt tightening specification. Refer to WHEEL BOLT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

CAUTION:

After inserting brake pads and before driving for the first time, press brake pedal strongly several times while parked so that brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.

-- Check brake fluid level, and fill if necessary.

CAUTION:

Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
