Headlamp, Changing From RHD To LHD, Halogen Headlamps (Through My 2012)
- If the vehicle is driven in countries where the traffic drives on the other side of the road (either right-hand or left-hand traffic) where it is normally driven, both headlamp glasses must be partially masked using appropriately designed opaque cover film so that the asymmetrical low beam does not blind oncoming traffic.
- There are different covers available for installing on headlamp lenses to adapt from RHD to LHD vehicles and vice versa.
Procedure
The cover foil has a molding (marking foil), which must be placed along the line around the headlamp lens so that it covers the asymmetrical area of the low beam.
-- Clean headlamp glasses and dry them.
Headlamp driver's side:
-- From the inner edge of the headlamp, count the vertical-running adornment lines up to the 22nd line in direction of the fender and mark the line on the headlamp glass using a water-soluble felt pen.
-- Peel off the protective film from the protective backing.
-- Lay the cover foil flush along the marked line -A-, on the lower edge -E- and on the upper edge -B- of the headlamp glass.
-- Affix the cover foil to the headlamp lens as illustrated.
-- Separate the marking foil -D- from the cover foil -C- at the perforation -arrow- and pull if off the headlamp lens.
Headlamp passenger's side:
