Impact Member, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With Trailer Hitch: Removing

-- Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the trailer socket. Refer to TRAILER SOCKET .

-- Free up the spiral clip -1- for the wire.

NOTE:

Use a soapy solution if necessary make removal easier.

-- Disconnect the electrical connector on the Radio Frequency Controlled Clock Receiver -J489- -item 2-, if equipped.

NOTE:

If the impact member -3- is replaced, the Radio Frequency Controlled Clock Receiver -J489- must be removed. Refer to RADIO FREQUENCY CONTROLLED CLOCK RECEIVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the tie downs. Refer to TIE DOWN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen the left and right luggage compartment side trim panel. Refer to FRONT DOOR TRIM PANELS .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the impact bar -3-.
