Batteries with central gas venting

Always use original battery sealing plugs. The plugs must be installed with an O-ring seal.
There are two types of batteries with a central gas venting:
- Batteries with a hose or connection for central gas venting
- Batteries without a hose or connection for central gas venting
NOTE:
- The latest generation of batteries are equipped with a central gas venting system and a fine mesh flame trap. Function: Gas produced during charging escape through a central opening on the top part of the battery cover. The flame trap which prevents flammable gases in the battery from igniting is also located at this point..The flame trap consists of a small round fiberglass mat about 15 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick. It works similarly to a valve, i.e. it allows gas produced in the battery to vent.
- Do not grease battery terminals.
- To avoid damaging the battery housing, put the battery clamps on only by hand, without forcing them.
Notes on operation of central gas venting system:
- For batteries with hose/line for central gas venting system, make sure the hose is not kinked, otherwise the battery will not be properly vented.
- On batteries with no central gas venting hose/line, it is important to ensure that opening in top cover -arrow- is not clogged.
