NOTE:

Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
Welding and straightening work on steering components is not permitted.
Only use steering gear grease, Part No. AOF 063 000 04 to grease the rack.

1 - Tie rod end

Removing and installing → Tie rod ball joint and tie rod
Check dust caps for damage and correct seating

2 - Lock nut, 40 Nm

3 - Spring clamp

Always replace
Version Parts

4 - Boot

Check for damage
Must not be twisted after toe is adjusted
Can be replaced with steering gear installed
Remove to replace tie rods → Tie rod, removing and installing .

5 - O-ring

Always replace

6 - Power-assist steering gear

Grease rack with steering gear grease A0F 063 000 04
Different versions

7 - Ear hose clamp

Always replace
Tension using V.A.G 1275

8 - Tie rod, 100 Nm

Removing and installing → Tie rod, removing and installing .
