Bleeding sequence for vehicles with Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 17 other vehicles, including the 2009 Audi S4, 2009 Audi A4, 2008 Audi S4, 2008 Audi RS 4, and 2008 Audi A4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- A pressure of at least 2 bar is required for bleeding the hydraulic unit. For this reason it is important to always check the pressure setting on the bleeder unit.
- Use the brake pedal depressor when installing brake system components, and bleed the system afterward.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Brake filler/bleeder unit VAS 5234

Follow operating instructions.
- Connect brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234.
- Open bleeder screws in the specified order and bleed brake calipers (assist as required with pedal pressure).
Bleed sequence
1 - Left front brake caliper
2 - Right front brake caliper
3 - Left rear brake caliper
4 - Right rear brake caliper
- Keep bleeding calipers until clear, foam-free brake fluid emerges.
- Close bleeder screw.
