Rear wheel brakes with automatic adjustment

NOTE:

Install all parts supplied in repair kit.
After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
To extract brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir, use a bleeder bottle that only comes into contact with brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth using a hose!

1 - Self-locking hex bolt, 35 Nm

Always replace
Counter hold guide pin when loosening and tightening

2 - Brake caliper housing

Remove before replacing brake pads
Do not twist hose when installing
Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
Servicing brake calipers

3 - Brake pads

Always replace both sides
Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
Removing and installing → Brake pads, removing and installing
Checking pad thickness:

4 - Brake pad retaining spring

Always replace when changing pads

5 - Wheel bolts

Mounting wheels → 44 - WHEELS, TIRES, VEHICLE ALIGNMENT

6 - Torx bolt

Tightening torque: 5 Nm

7 - Brake disc

Always replace both sides
Remove brake caliper prior to removing
Lubricate contact surfaces between brake disc and wheel hub with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2 .
Make sure there is sufficient wear limit

Allocation → Brakes
Thickness → Brakes

8 - Hex socket head bolts, 75 Nm

M10x60
Always replace

9 - Brake carrier with guide pins and protective caps

Replacement carriers are supplied assembled and with sufficient grease on guide pins
If protective caps or guide pins are damaged, replace using repair kit. Use grease packet supplied to lubricate guide pins.

10 - Banjo bolt, 45 Nm

11 - Brake line with banjo union

Do not twist hose when installing
Remove from brake carrier to replace brake pads
Do not twist hose when installing
Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
