Torque converter, checking

- Check hub - arrow - of torque converter for wear and corrosion.
- Check whether balance plates are properly seated and threads are undamaged.
If signs of wear and corrosion on torque converter, loosened balance plates or damaged threads are detected:
- Replace torque converter.
NOTE:
- If the torque converter clutch is burnt or worn, sand-like material and residues can be found in the ATF filter.
- If the bolts - arrow - for the attachment of the torque converter to the drive plate protrude only 2 mm, the torque converter can get dented and the torque converter clutch can be damaged. Therefore, only use original bolts.
