Transmission, attaching to assembly stand

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Attachment and holding rig 3457
- Holding fixture VW540 (only for FWD transmissions) (Not for US/Canada)
- Holding fixture VW313
- Holding plate VW309
- Engine Hoist VAG1202A
- Attach the attachment and holding rig 3457 at the transmission housing mounts and secure.
- Bolt the attachment and holding rig to the holding plate VW309 and place this into the holding fixture VW313 using a workshop crane.
For transmissions with Front Wheel Drive (FWD), the holding fixture VW540 can also be used to secure the transmission to the holding fixture VW313 (Not for US/Canada).
- Secure transmission to holding fixture VW540 (arrows) and insert in holding fixture VW313.
CAUTION:
The center of gravity of the transmission is located outside the turning center at holding fixture. To turn the transmission, a second technician must hold the transmission housing to prevent back-swing.
NOTE:
- Vents for the transmission housing and final drive must be closed before turning a filled transmission on the assembly stand so that the oil pan faces upward.
