Transmission, attaching to assembly stand

Attachment and holding rig 3457
Holding fixture VW540 (only for FWD transmissions) (Not for US/Canada)
Holding fixture VW313
Holding plate VW309

Attach the attachment and holding rig 3457 at the transmission housing mounts and secure.
Bolt the attachment and holding rig to the holding plate VW309 and place this into the holding fixture VW313 using a workshop crane.

For transmissions with Front Wheel Drive (FWD), the holding fixture VW540 can also be used to secure the transmission to the holding fixture VW313 (Not for US/Canada).

Secure transmission to holding fixture VW540 (arrows) and insert in holding fixture VW313.

CAUTION: The center of gravity of the transmission is located outside the turning center at holding fixture. To turn the transmission, a second technician must hold the transmission housing to prevent back-swing.

NOTE:

Vents for the transmission housing and final drive must be closed before turning a filled transmission on the assembly stand so that the oil pan faces upward.
