Right Flange Shaft Seal With Transmission Removed: Installing

Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:

Always replace the flange shaft locking ring -A-

Fig 1: Identifying Flange Shaft Clamped In Vise And Using New Circlip To Press Old Circlip Out Of Groove In Flange Shaft

-- Clamp flange shaft in vise, using jaw protectors. Press previous circlip out of flange shaft grooved with new circlip -A-.

-- Lightly oil outer circumference of new shaft seal.

-- Install the new right flange shaft seal all the way without tilting it.

-- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease G 052 128 A1.

-- Drive in flange shaft using VW 295.

-- Fill the transmission with transmission fluid and check the level. Refer to General Information . Remove the oil filler plug -arrow-.
