Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Sleeve VW 284/1 from Driver/Sleeve VW 284
- Thrust Tube VW 455
- Tube T40104/2 from Removal and Assembly Tool T40104
- Thrust Plate VW 402
Requirements
If the transmission output shaft with vibration damper is being replaced, it is possible the transmission output shaft -A- may be delivered separated from the vibration damper -B-.
Only in this case, the vibration damper must be pressed onto the transmission output shaft with splines.
CAUTION:
Danger of damaging the components.
- Do not remove the vibration damper from the transmission output shaft with splines and cannot be used again. Using the vibration damper again does not assure that the transmission output shaft is attached securely. The vibration damper will come loose off the transmission output shaft and damage the transmission and other components.
Procedure
-- Place the T40104/2 on the VW 402 with the opening facing upward.
-- Place the new transmission output shaft with splines -A- into the T40104/2 with the thin guide -arrow-.
-- Install the new vibration damper -B-.
-- Install the vibration damper -B- all the way on using VW 455 and VW 284/1.
NOTE:
Tube VW 284/1: corrugation -arrow- faces down.
