Input Shaft Seal, Replacing: Procedure

-- Remove the dual mass flywheel. Refer to DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Rotate the :T40014  by hand into shaft seal until the tool has a good hold in the shaft seal. Then tighten the tool with an open end wrench.

NOTE:

The illustration shows a different transmission.

-- The shaft seal can be pulled out a short distance by screwing in the rear bolt of the puller.

-- Follow up with the open end wrench, so that the :T40014  engages securely again into the shaft seal and the shaft seal can be pulled out again by turning the screw.

-- Repeat the process until the shaft seal is completely pulled out.

-- Coat the new shaft seal -A- with ATF.

-- Slide the shaft seal on the input shaft; do not touch the shaft splines during this.

NOTE:

The shaft seal can be damaged if it touches the input shaft splines.

Slide the shaft seal as far as possible into the cover so that it cannot bend when driving in.

-- Mount the shaft seal using the :T40167  all the way without bending it.

-- Install the dual mass flywheel. Refer to DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- After installing the transmission, check the ATF level and correct. Refer to ATF LEVEL, CHECKING .
