Overview - Selector Mechanism

- Before work is done with the engine running, move the selector lever into "P" and press the parking brake button to engage the electromechanical parking brake.
Before disassembling the selector mechanism, perform check. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, CHECKING .
- Selector Lever Handle
- Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE .
- Trim Ring
- Removing and installing. Refer to OVERVIEW SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE .
- Selector Lever Boot
- Removing and installing. Refer to OVERVIEW SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE .
- Clamp
- For securing the selector lever handle to the selector lever
- Removing and installing. Refer to OVERVIEW - SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, FOR VEHICLES THROUGH MY 2011 .
- Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26-
- Removing and installing. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER TRANSMISSION RANGE POSITION DISPLAY UNIT -Y26-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Nut
- 10 Nm
- For securing the shift mechanism to the body
- Quantity: 4
- Rubber Seal
- Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module -J587- with Tiptronic Switch -F189-
- Removing and installing. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER SENSOR SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE -J587- WITH TIPTRONIC SWITCH -F189-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Selector Mechanism Function Unit
- Can only be replaced as a unit
- Shift mechanism emergency release. Refer to EMERGENCY RELEASE FROM P .
- Removing and installing. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-
- Removing and installing. Refer to SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID -N110-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Transmission Park Selector Switch -F305-
- Consists of two micro-switches on the circuit board on the Shift Lock Solenoid - N110-.
- Can only be replaced together with the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-. Refer to SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID -N110-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Noise Insulation
- Not on all vehicles; for the correct allocation. Refer to the Parts Information.
- Lock Washers
- Always replace
- For securing the noise insulation to the shift mechanism function unit
- Quantity: 4
- Clip
- Secure the selector lever cable to the selector mechanism function unit
- O-Ring
- Always replace
- Selector Lever Cable
- Do not bend
- Different versions depending on the vehicle; For the correct allocation. Refer to the Parts Information.
- Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - SELECTOR LEVER CABLE .
- Lubricate the ball socket lightly with Polycarbamide Grease:G 052 142 A2 before installing.
