Wear, Checking On Chain, Disc Set I And II
-- Check if the front sides of the chain pins still indicate a spherical shape with rounded edges -arrow A-.
-- If the shape of the chain pin has been worn down through wear or chain-slip to sharp edges (burr) -arrow B-, then the chain must be replaced.
-- Check the running surface on disc set "I" (refer to DISC SET I AND II, REMOVING AND INSTALLING ) and disc set "II" (refer to DISC SET I AND II, REMOVING AND INSTALLING ) as well.
-- Check if the tapered pulleys -arrow- for disc set "I" are smooth and show no signs of wear.
Ignore -1 and 2-.
-- To determine if there is damage to the running surface, run a finger nail from the inside to the outside over the entire surface of the tapered pulley.
- Very light wear grooves and damage that cannot be detected with the finger nail can be disregarded.
- When there are wear grooves and damage that can be detected with the finger nail, then the disc set "I" must be replaced.
-- Perform a visual inspection as well.
- The disc set "I" must be replaced if there are single wear grooves which look polished (shiny), with black discoloration.
Ignore -arrow-.
- The running surfaces -2- for bearing "C" and -1- for bearing "D" must be like new.
-- To determine if there is damage to the running surface, run a finger nail from the inside to the outside over the entire running surface.
- Very light wear grooves and damage that cannot be detected with the finger nail can be disregarded.
- When there are wear grooves and damage that can be detected with the finger nail, then the disc set "I" must be replaced.
-- Check if the tapered pulleys -arrow- for disc set "II" are smooth and show no signs of wear.
-- To determine if there is damage to the running surface, run a finger nail from the inside to the outside over the entire surface of the tapered pulley.
- Very light wear grooves and damage that cannot be detected with the finger nail can be disregarded.
- When there are wear grooves and damage that can be detected with the finger nail, then disc set "II" must be replaced.
- The running surface -1- for bearing "10" must be in like new condition.
-- To determine if there is damage to the running surface, run a finger nail from the inside to the outside over the entire running surface.
- Very light wear grooves and damage that cannot be detected with the finger nail can be disregarded.
- When there are wear grooves and damage that can be detected with the finger nail, then disc set "II" must be replaced.
-- Check the installed dimension for the oil pipe -arrow- :
- The distance from the end of the oil pipe up to the input shaft is approximately 11.5 mm -a- when the oil pipe is inserted all the way.
