Alignment Of Lining Plates:
- The lining plates must be installed with the same alignment, thus the places without outside teeth -arrows- must always lie on top of each other. Only in this way is the adjustment correct; mark the input shaft cylinder for correct installation, if necessary.
-- Insert the determined upper adjustment plate -4- in the input shaft cylinder -A-.
-- Lastly, insert the corrugated spring washer -5-.
-- Press the pistons -1- all the way into the press plate -2-.
- The inner running and sealing surfaces -arrow A- of the press plate and pistons -arrow C- must not touch the shaft during removal and installation.
- The running and sealing surfaces must not show the smallest signs of damage such as scratches or grooves as a result of removing or installing.
- If damaged, the pressure plate of the piston must be replaced.
-- Carefully guide the press plate -1- with pistons -2- downward over shaft -3-.
- The inner running surfaces of the press plate -1- and pistons -2- must not touch the shaft.
-- Push the press plate with the piston evenly all the way in the input shaft.
Checking Air Play with the :T40102 .
-- Insert both :T40102 under the press plate -A-.
-- A second technician must push the press plate -A- downward all the way in direction of -arrow 1- with :VW416B .
-- Guide both :T40102 circularly in the direction of -arrow- back and forth under the press plate.
- Both :T40102 must be aligned when guided in.
- The :T40102 must not be tilted.
- Entire circular area must be checked.
- Both :T40102 must always move freely without any resistance.
If the :T40102 cannot be guided in the direction of -arrow- without blocking:
-- Repeat the input shaft adjustment. Refer to INPUT SHAFT, ADJUSTING BY DETERMINING AIR GAP .
The air gap must pass the inspection with the :T40102 , otherwise the transmission will have start-up problems after reinstallation.
If the :T40102 can be guided in the direction of -arrow- without blocking:
-- Install the input shaft cover. Refer to INPUT SHAFT COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the input shaft. Refer to INPUT SHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the input shaft seal. Refer to INPUT SHAFT SEAL, REPLACING .
-- Fill the ATF after installing the transmission. Refer to ATF, FILLING FOR ATF FLUSH .
