Drive Chain Balance Shaft, Removing And Installing: Installing

Tightening specifications. Refer to OVERVIEW - BALANCE SHAFT AND OIL PUMP DRIVE CHAIN .
Crankshaft -1- secured in "TDC" using Crankshaft Locking Pin:T40069 .

NOTE:

Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

-- Install the chain tensioner with the chain and the drive chain and the balance shaft chain sprocket.

-- Lock the balance shaft in the "TDC" position with the Locating Pins:T40116 .

The slots in the balance shaft chain sprocket must be centered with the threaded holes in the balance shaft. Offset the chain by one tooth, if necessary.

-- Tighten the chain tensioner bolts.

-- Install the chain sprocket bolts -1- loosely.

It must still be possible to rotate the chain sprocket on the balance shaft and it must not tip.

-- Remove the Locking Pin:T40071 to release the chain tensioner.

-- Press against the chain tensioner guide rail with a screwdriver in direction of -arrow- and simultaneously tighten the bolts -1- for the chain sprocket.

-- Remove the Locating Pins:T40116 from the balance shaft.

Install in reverse order of removal while noting the following:

-- Install the lower timing chain cover. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the locking bolt "TDC" mark crankshaft. Refer to Fig 2.
