Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Camshaft Bar:T10068A
Test Sequence
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the intake manifold upper section. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Turn the crankshaft in the engine direction of rotation to the Top Dead Center (TDC) cylinder 1 mark.
Cams -A- of cylinder 1 must face each other.
-- Insert the :T10068A in both shaft grooves.
Due to the camshaft adjuster function, the camshaft grooves may not be perfectly horizontal. If necessary, turn the camshaft back and forth -arrows- slightly with an open end wrench in order to insert the :T10068A .
Verify the installation markings of the camshaft adjuster with the markings on the control housing:
- The arrows on the camshaft adjusters must line up with the notches on the right side of the control housing. Markings on control housing. Refer to Fig 7.
A slight offset between the >>32A<< marking and the notch is permitted.
Do not pay attention to the position of the copper-color chain links.
-- The distance between the markings on the camshaft adjuster must be exactly 16 rollers of camshaft timing chain.
If the markings do not match:
-- Adjust the valve timing. Refer to TIMING CHAIN FOR THE OIL PUMP DRIVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
If the markings match:
-- Install the cylinder head cover. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the intake manifold upper section. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
