Oil Pan, Removing And Installing: Installing
Note the expiration date of the sealing compound.
The oil pan must be installed within five minutes after application of silicone sealant.
-- Cut tube nozzle at front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 3 mm).
-- Apply silicone sealant to clean oil pan sealing surfaces as shown.
- Sealant bead thickness: 2 to 3 mm.
The sealing compound bead must not be thicker, otherwise excess sealing compound will enter the oil pan and may block the oil suction pipe strainer.
-- Install the oil pan immediately and only tighten all of the oil pan bolts lightly.
-- Tighten the bolts in three steps as follows:
-- Tighten the bolts connecting the oil pan -1- to the cylinder block in a diagonal sequence to 5 Nm.
-- Tighten the bolts connecting the oil pan to the transmission -arrows- to 45 Nm.
-- Tighten the bolts connecting the oil pan -1- to the cylinder block in a diagonal sequence to 12 Nm.
After installing the oil pan, allow the sealant to dry for approximately 30 minutes. Only after then may the engine oil be replenished.
Assemble in reverse order of disassembly.
