Oil Pan, Removing And Installing: Installing

NOTE:

Note the expiration date of the sealing compound.

The oil pan must be installed within five minutes after application of silicone sealant.

-- Cut tube nozzle at front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 3 mm).

-- Apply silicone sealant to clean oil pan sealing surfaces as shown.

NOTE:

The sealing compound bead must not be thicker, otherwise excess sealing compound will enter the oil pan and may block the oil suction pipe strainer.

-- Install the oil pan immediately and only tighten all of the oil pan bolts lightly.

-- Tighten the bolts in three steps as follows:

-- Tighten the bolts connecting the oil pan -1- to the cylinder block in a diagonal sequence to 5 Nm.

-- Tighten the bolts connecting the oil pan to the transmission -arrows- to 45 Nm.

-- Tighten the bolts connecting the oil pan -1- to the cylinder block in a diagonal sequence to 12 Nm.

NOTE:

After installing the oil pan, allow the sealant to dry for approximately 30 minutes. Only after then may the engine oil be replenished.

Assemble in reverse order of disassembly.
