Expansion Valve, Removing And Installing, Rear: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

-- Replace the seals -C and D-. Refer to the Parts information..

-- Make sure that the seals -C and D- are properly seated on connecting pipes to evaporator.

-- Place the expansion valve -B- on the connections on the evaporator.

-- Coat the new seals with refrigerant oil before installing.

NOTE:

The retaining plate -E- is installed on the connecting pipes. Make sure they are seated correctly when installing the expansion valve.

-- Attach the refrigerant lines -B and C- to the rear expansion valve.

-- Install the bolts -A- (tightening specification 10 ± 1 Nm).

-- Replace the O-rings -D and E-. Refer to the Parts information..

-- Check the alignment pin -G- (installed in the low pressure line connection or in the expansion valve -F-, not installed in all connections) and sleeves -H- on refrigerant lines for damage and proper seating.

CAUTION:

- Never start the engine with the refrigerant circuit empty.

Vehicles with Refrigerant R134a

-- Fill the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

-- Perform the leak test on the closed line connections of the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, DETECTING LEAKS .

Vehicles with Refrigerant R1234yf

-- Fill the refrigerant circuit. Refer to appropriate service information. .

-- Perform the leak test on the closed line connections of the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT  .
