Dryer Bag/Dryer Cartridge, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Observe safety precautions when working on the high voltage system. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Pay attention to safety precautions for working near high voltage components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS NEAR HIGH VOLTAGE COMPONENTS .

-- Note the high voltage system danger classification. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM GENERAL WARNINGS .

-- See notes. Refer to WORKING ON REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

-- Extract the refrigerant using the A/C Service Station, only then open the refrigerant circuit.

Additional Work for Vehicles with a TDI Engine

-- Loosen the right upper charge air hose. Refer to CHARGE AIR SYSTEM .

Additional Work for Hybrid Vehicles

CAUTION:

Danger to life due to high voltage.

Death or serious bodily injury by electric shock.

- Have the high voltage system de-energized by a qualified person.

-- Switch off the high voltage system. Refer to DISABLING THE HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM .

-- Remove the coolant reservoir and move it to the side. Refer to appropriate service information. .

-- Remove the center air grille -3- and, if equipped, the license plate holder -2-. Refer to FRONT BUMPER COVER .

-- Fold up the air guide on the left and right -arrow- and remove the bolts -A- (25 Nm).

-- Push the radiator toward the engine and remove the clips -arrows- on top of the radiator.

-- Push the locking pins -B- in both radiator mount -A- in direction of -arrow- and remove them.

-- Push the radiator carefully toward the engine compartment and secure it.

Vehicles with Refrigerant R134a

-- Drain the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

Vehicles with Refrigerant R1234yf 

-- Drain the refrigerant circuit. Refer to appropriate service information. .

Continuation for All Vehicles

CAUTION:

Danger or frostbite due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.

Frostbite on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Extract refrigerant and open the refrigerant circuit immediately.

- If more than 10 minutes elapse after extracting the refrigerant and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, extract the refrigerant again. Evaporation can cause pressure to develop in the refrigerant circuit.

-- Remove the cap -1-.

-- Remove the desiccant bag -2- in direction of -arrow- using needle nose pliers.

-- Immediately seal the open receiver/dryer with clean plugs from the :VAS6122  .
