Heater And A/C Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Observe safety precautions when working on the high voltage system. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Pay attention to safety precautions for working near high voltage components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS NEAR HIGH VOLTAGE COMPONENTS .

-- See notes. Refer to WORKING ON REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

-- Note the high voltage system danger classification. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM GENERAL WARNINGS .

CAUTION:

Danger to life due to high voltage.

Death or serious bodily injury by electric shock.

- Have the high voltage system de-energized by a qualified person.

-- Switch off the high voltage system. Refer to DISABLING THE HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM .

-- Remove the instrument panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL .

-- Remove the air intake shroud. Refer to FRESH AIR INTAKE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the expansion valve. Refer to EXPANSION VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- For all the following work, close the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the :VAS6122  .

-- Remove the air guides for the heater and Air Conditioning (A/C) unit.

-- Place the :VAS6208  under the engine.

CAUTION:

The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm. There is a risk of scalding from hot steam and coolant.

Burns on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.

- Wear protective gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Reduce the pressure: cover the coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully open.

-- Discharge the coolant circuit. Refer to COOLANT [For engine(s) CGRA] .

-- Loosen the coolant lines on the heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the condensation water drain hose from the heater and A/C unit.

-- Disconnect the connectors from the heater and A/C unit.

-- Remove the subframe. Refer to appropriate service information .

-- Remove the nuts -1- from the heater and A/C unit on the engine compartment side.

NOTE:

The following steps must be performed with a second technician.

-- Remove the heater and A/C unit to the side.
