Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to STORAGE COMPARTMENTS, COVERS AND TRIM

-- Remove the front heater and Air Conditioning (A/C) unit heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY .

CAUTION:

Pyrotechnic components can unintentionally deploy.

Risk of injury.

- Discharge static electricity: Briefly touch the door striker pin.

-- Disconnect the connectors -A and B- with the wire connection from the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-.

-- Loosen the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- Ground (GND) wire from the ground point -C- on the instrument panel crossmember (tightening specification: 9 ±1 Nm).

-- Disconnect the connector -A- and the mounting points -B- for the wiring harness -C- from the heater and A/C unit.

NOTE:

The heater and A/C unit is shown without the instrument panel crossmember.

Unlock the brackets on the mounting points -B- with a screwdriver -E-, for example.

The wiring harness -C- can only be removed downward together with the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- -D-.

-- Remove the bolt -A-.

-- Loosen the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- -B- from the heater and A/C unit in direction of -arrow-.

-- Loosen the wiring harness -C- from the heater and A/C unit.

-- When removing the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- -C- further, make sure that the wire connections to the other electrical components on the heater and A/C unit are not pulled or damaged while removing the wiring harness -C-.
