Vehicles With An Air Spring Shock Absorber 

-- Activate the vehicle lift mode and place the vehicle on the lifting platform. Refer to VEHICLE LIFT MODE .

Continuation for All Vehicles

-- Secure the exhaust system on the subframe, as shown in the figure, using the Tensioning Strap:T10038  -1-.

-- Detach the rear part of the exhaust system. Refer to MUFFLER AND CATALYTIC CONVERTERS [CGRA] , EMISSIONS CONTROL [CGFA] and EXHAUST SYSTEM COMPONENTS [CATA] .

-- Loosen the threaded connection -arrow- between the air spring shock absorber -1- and the coupling rod at the wheel bearing housing.

-- Remove the bolt.

Vehicles With A Steel Spring Shock Absorber

-- Loosen the threaded connection -arrows- between the steel spring shock absorber -1- and the coupling rod at the wheel bearing housing.

-- Install the block of wood between the subframe -1- and the upper rear transverse link -2-.

-- Press the axle down with a block of wood.

-- Remove the bolt.

Continuation For All Vehicles 

-- Place the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931  under the subframe.

-- Remove the front bolts -1- for the subframe.

-- Place the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931  under the subframe.

-- Lower the subframe -1-.

a  - maximum 40 mm

-- Pry off the cover -1- with a screwdriver for example -arrow-.

-- Mount the tools as illustrated.

2. Hydraulic Press - Subframe Bushing Tool Kit - Support Ring:T10301/4  .
3. Hydraulic Press - Subframe Bushing Tool Kit - Tube:T10301/3 
4. Hydraulic Press:VAS6178  with Bearing Installer - Wheel Hub/Bearing Kit- Adapter 13:T10205/13 
5. Hydraulic Press - Subframe Bushing Tool Kit - Nut:T10301/2 
6. Hydraulic Press - Subframe Bushing Tool Kit - Spindle:T10301/1 

The chamfer on the outer diameter of the Hydraulic Press - Subframe Bushing Tool Kit - Support Ring:T10301/4  must face the subframe.

-- Press out the bonded rubber bushing.
