Hybrid Battery Unit -Ax1-, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING:

Read and follow the high voltage electrical system general warnings. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM GENERAL WARNINGS .

NOTE:

Pay attention to the instructions for handling high voltage cables. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION .

WARNING:

Hybrid vehicle high voltage in the high voltage system. Danger of electrocution! The following procedure requires working on the high voltage system. Disable the high voltage system now. Refer to DISABLING THE HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM .

-- Disable the high voltage system. Refer to DISABLING THE HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM .

-- Remove the luggage compartment floor.

-- Remove the tire mobility kit and vehicle tools from the luggage compartment.

-- Release and disconnect the connectors -1 and 2- for the Battery Regulation Control Module -J840-.

-- Release and disconnect the connectors -3 and 4-.

-- Remove the bolt -1- from the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1- and remove the potential equalization cable (ground cable).

-- Cut the cable tie -arrow- and move the potential equalization cable (ground cable) to the side.

NOTE:

Be careful not to damage the foam seals on the air supply duct when removing and installing the ducts and make sure the separating points are completely sealed.

-- Pull the air guide channel toward the battery and upward out of its retainer -1-.

-- Lift the air guide channel and remove it from the mounts on the battery -2-.

-- Remove the eight bolts from the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1-.

-- Remove the four bolts -3- and then remove both brackets from the right side of the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1-.

NOTE:

When removing, the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1- must first be lifted up slightly and moved toward the right. Otherwise the Connection and Junction Box 1 -SX1- (E-box) will hit the left side of the battery when it is being removed from under the left luggage compartment trim panel.

-- Slightly lift the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1- in the center using a short lifting belt and the :VAS6100  .

-- Move the Hybrid Battery Unit -AX1- slightly to the right and lift it out with the help of a second technician to keep it stable.
