Starter, 3.6L FSI Engine 206 Kw, Automatic Transmission Ag8, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the noise insulation NOISE INSULATION .

-- Open the snap buttons -arrows- and remove the heat shield mat from the solenoid switch.

-- Disconnect the terminal 50 connector -1-.

-- Pry off the cap -2- and remove the underlying nut for the positive cable.

-- Disconnect the positive cable -3- from the solenoid switch.

CAUTION:

The threaded connection on the solenoid switch can twist.

The solenoid switch can be damaged.

Counterhold the threaded connection on the solenoid switch using an open-end wrench when disconnect and connecting the positive wire.

-- Remove the bottom bolt -arrow-.

NOTE:

The bolt on the top of the starter is accessible by reaching between the primary catalytic converter exhaust pipes.

-- Remove the starter from the vehicle.
