Battery, Removing
Risk of injury. Follow all Warnings and Safety Precautions. Refer to WARNINGS AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Always follow the procedure described in service informationwhen connecting the battery. The battery cut-out will be deactivated and damage to the vehicle electrical equipment may occur if the connecting sequence is not followed exactly. Refer to BATTERY .
- Observe notes for threaded connections of battery terminals. Refer to BATTERY POST/TERMINAL .

-- Remove the left front seat. Refer to FRONT SEATS .
-- Cut open the carpet where shown -arrows-.
Only for Vehicles with a Rear Air Conditioning (A/C) System
-- Remove the bolt -1- and the air duct -2-.
Continuation For All Vehicles
-- Fold back the carpet, open the lock on the battery housing -arrows- and remove the cover.
-- Disconnect negative (-) terminal -1- from battery.
-- Disconnect positive (B+) terminal -2- from battery.
-- Disconnect central gas vent hose -arrow- from top cover.
-- Remove bolt -1- and battery bottom rail bracket -2-.
-- Remove bolt -1- and retainer bracket -2-.
-- Fold battery handles -arrows- upward.
-- Hold the battery by the handles and lift it out of the battery case.
