SUBFRAME, Securing, Vehicles With V8 Engines: Notes

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required 

• Counterhold - Kit - Multiple Use:T10172 
• Counterhold - Kit - Adapter 10:T10172/10 
• Subframe Locking Pin (2 pc.):T10463 
• Torque Wrench 1331 5-50 Nm :VAG1331 
• Torque Wrench 1332 40-200 Nm :VAG1332 

-- Remove the noise insulation below the engine/transmission. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .

-- Unscrew one of the rear bolts of the subframe -arrow-.

-- Install the Subframe Locking Pin (2 pc.):T10463  -1-.

-- Tighten the Subframe Locking Pin (2 pc.):T10463  to 30 Nm. 

-- The same procedure must be performed for the second rear bolt of the subframe.

The subframe position is now secured.

The removal of the Subframe Locking Pin (2 pc.):T10463  is performed in reverse order.

-- Install the subframe with new bolts -1-.

It must be ensured that the thrust washer -2- is in the correct installation position.

-- The open side -arrow- of the thrust washer -2- must point opposite the direction of travel.

-- When tightening the bolt -arrow-, hold the thrust washer -3- in place using a Counterhold - Multiple Use:T10172A  .
