Sensor Wheel On Crankshaft, Installing: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg, 2013 Volkswagen Touareg, 2012 Volkswagen Touareg, and 2011 Volkswagen Touareg. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Make sure the crankshaft / sensor wheel contact surface is free of oil and grease.

NOTE:

Sensor wheel may only be installed once, since attachment points -arrows- of countersunk screws -1- in sensor wheel -2- are so severely deformed after mounting the second time that bolt heads make contact on the crankshaft -3- and sensor wheel lies loosely under the bolt heads.

-- Apply a thin coat of locking compound "D 154 100 A1" to contact surfaces of crankshaft and sensor wheel for additional security.

-- When installing, make sure that marking >>VR6<< -arrow- stands at individual threaded hole.

-- Tighten first all the new bolts hand-tight.

-- Then tighten mounting bolt -1- to 10 Nm + 90° (1 /4 rotation).
