Overview - Crankshaft: Notes

Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side
- Replacing. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .
Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .
Crankshaft
- Axial play, measuring. Refer to CRANKSHAFT, MEASURING AXIAL PLAY .
- Radial play, measuring. Refer to CRANKSHAFT, MEASURING RADIAL CLEARANCE .
- Crankshaft dimensions. Refer to CRANKSHAFT DIMENSIONS .
Alignment Sleeve
- Quantity: 4
- Insert into guide frame. Refer to Figure
Seal
- Replace
Bolt
- For guide frame to cylinder block sealing surfaces
- There are different bolt lengths and bolt heads
- Tightening sequence. Refer to Figure
Long Bolt, Large Collar
- For inner row of guide frame
- Replace
- Tightening sequence. Refer to Figure
Short Bolt, Small Collar
- For outer row of guide frame
- Tightening sequence. Refer to Figure
Guide Frame
- With Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-
- To remove, remove the timing chain guide rail -item 1) OVERVIEW - TIMING MECHANISM DRIVE CHAIN .
- Sealant application. Refer to Figure
- Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-, removing and installing. Refer to Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Gasket
- Replace
Thrust Washer
- Only on the third crankshaft bearing
- Lubricating grooves face outward
- Note locating point in the guide frame
- Measuring crankshaft axial clearance. Refer to CRANKSHAFT, MEASURING AXIAL PLAY .
Bearing Shell
- For guide frame without oil groove
- mark used bearing shells for reinstallation but not on the running surface
- Replace the bearing shells worn down to the base layer
- Note the installation position
- Insert new bearing shells for guide frame with proper color marking. Refer to Figure
Thrust Washer
- Only on the third crankshaft bearing
- Lubricating grooves face outward
- Pay attention to the locating point on the cylinder block
- Measuring crankshaft axial clearance. Refer to CRANKSHAFT, MEASURING AXIAL PLAY .
Bearing Shell
- For cylinder block with oil groove
- mark used bearing shells for reinstallation but not on the running surface
- Replace the bearing shells worn down to the base layer
- Note the installation position
- Insert new bearing shells for cylinder block with proper color marking. Refer to Figure
