Overview - Ribbed Belt Drive: Notes

  1. Ribbed Belt
    • Mark the running direction before removing. Reversing the running direction on a used belt can destroy it
    • Check for wear
    • When installing, make sure it is seated correctly on the pulleys
    • Removing and installing. Refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
  2. Bolt
    • 20 Nm + 90° (1 /4 turn) additional turn
    • Replace
    • Use a shim. Refer to Figure
  3. Shim
    • Replace
  4. Idler Roller Cover
  5. Generator
    • Removing and installing. Refer to GENERATOR .
    • To make it easier to position the generator, drive the threaded bushing for the generator bolt back slightly.

    • 22 Nm

  9. Idler Roller for Ribbed Belt
    • Note location

    • Only on vehicles with an additional idler roller

  17. Coolant Pump Ribbed Belt Pulley
    • Installation location: writing "front" indicates direction of travel
    • Counterhold with the Wrench - Pin Type:3212  to remove.

    • 9 Nm

  20. Left Idler Roller for Ribbed Belt
    • Only on vehicles with an additional idler roller
    • Note location

    • 22 Nm
    • Only on vehicles with an additional idler roller

    • Only on vehicles with an additional idler roller

    • 22 Nm
  24. Power Steering Pump
  25. Power Steering Pump Ribbed Belt Pulley
    • Counterhold with the Wrench - Pin Type:3212  to remove.
  26. Bolt
    • Tightening specification. Refer to appropriate service information. .
  27. Seal
    • Replace
  28. Bracket for Power Steering Pump and A/C Compressor
  29. Bolt
    • 40 Nm
  30. Bolt
    • 25 Nm
    • Check for washers
  31. A/C Compressor
  32. Alignment Sleeve
    • Ensure they are seated correctly in bracket
  33. Bolt
    • 25 Nm
  34. Ribbed Belt Tensioner
    CAUTION:

    Depending on the vehicle equipment level, the bracket in the cylinder crankshaft housing for the tensioner can be designed using an M10 or M11 thread. The bolt and the tensioner for the cylinder crankshaft housing must absolutely be perfectly allocated.

    • Pivot with a TORX® 60 socket
  35. Bolt
    CAUTION:

    Differing threads in the crankshaft housing.

    Before assembling, check whether the thread is an M10 or M11.

    Use the proper bolt size. The engine could be damaged.

    The bolt and the tensioner for the cylinder crankshaft housing must absolutely be perfectly allocated.

    • M10: 50 Nm + 90° additional turn
    • M11: 60 Nm + 90° additional turn

    • Mark the vibration damper installed position
