Crankshaft Seal, Belt Pulley Side, Replacing: Procedure

-- Remove the ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the vibration damper.

-- Place inner part of Puller - Crankshaft Seal:T40019  flush with outer part and secure using knurled-head screw.

-- Lubricate the threaded head on the camshaft seal puller position it and install it as far as possible into the seal using force.

-- Loosen knurled thumb screw and turn inner portion against crankshaft until the seal is pulled out.

-- Secure the seal remover in a vise at the flat spots. Remove seal using pliers.

-- Clean the running and sealing surface.

-- Insert the Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Guide Sleeve 1:T40048/1  onto Pull Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Guide Sleeve 1:T40048/2  and slide seal -1- onto the pull sleeve.

-- Remove assembly device.

-- Place pull sleeve Seal Installer - Crankshaft - Pulling Sleeve 2:T40048/2  on crankshaft and slide seal -1- into sealing surface on engine.

-- Position the Seal Installer - Crankshaft Seal Adapter:T40048/4  (installation depth: 5 mm) on the crankshaft with M8 x 55 mm bolts.

-- Install the bolts by hand.

-- Tighten bolts each ¹ /₂ rotation by alternating sides to press in seal until it reaches stop.

-- Install the vibration damper.

-- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
