Overview - Crankshaft: Notes

NOTE:
To perform the procedure, secure the engine to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Universal Mounting:VAS6095/1 and the Engine/Transmission Holder - V6 TDI Bracket:VAS6095/1-4 on the Engine And Transmission Holder:VAS6095 .
Oil all bearing and contact surfaces before assembly work.
- Crankshaft
- Axial play, measuring. Refer to AXIAL CLEARANCE, MEASURING .
- Radial play, measuring. Refer to RADIAL PLAY, MEASURING .
- Do not turn crankshaft when measuring radial play
- Crankshaft Dimensions. Refer to CRANKSHAFT DIMENSIONS .
- Alignment Sleeve
- Quantity: 2
- Insert in cylinder block
- Guide Frame
- Installing. Refer to Figure.
- Bolt
- Replace
- Tightening sequence. Refer to Figure
- Thrust Washer
- Only on 3rd crankshaft bearing
- Lubricating grooves face outward
- Pay attention to the locating point
- Measuring crankshaft axial clearance. Refer to AXIAL CLEARANCE, MEASURING .
- Bearing Shell
- For guide frame
- Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark)
- Bearing shells that are worn down to the nickel layer must be replaced.
- Insert new bearing shells for guide frame with proper color marking. Refer to Figure
- Centering Bushing for Torque Converter
- Information regarding the centering bushing. Refer to Figure
- Alignment Pin
- Make sure the crankshaft fits correctly
- Thrust Washer
- Only on 3rd crankshaft bearing
- Lubricating grooves face outward
- Pay attention to the locating point
- Measuring crankshaft axial clearance. Refer to AXIAL CLEARANCE, MEASURING .
- Bearing Shell
- For cylinder block with oil groove
- Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark)
- Insert new bearing shells for cylinder block with proper color marking. Refer to Figure
