Balance Shaft And Oil Pump Chain, Removing And Installing: Removing
- The transmission is removed.
-- Remove the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the timing chain covers. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Insert the Crankshaft Key:T40049 at the rear of the crankshaft using two used drive plate bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove locking bolt -arrow- from upper part of oil pan.
Risk of injury when touching "TDC" hole with finger.
- Do not rotate crankshaft -1-.
-- Install the Crankshaft Key:3242 in the hole and tighten to 20 Nm. Rotate the crankshaft back and forth slightly to center the pin completely, if necessary.
Reversing the running direction on a used power take-off drive chain can destroy it.
- Paint arrows to mark the running direction of the power take-off drive chain so it can be installed again.
-- Lock the rear balance shaft on the engine using the Diesel Injection Pump Locking Pin:3359 and loosen the bolts -arrows- for balance shaft chain sprocket.
-- To protect against cuts, wrap the point and the cutting edges on a 3.3 mm drill bit with insulating tape.
-- Push the slide rail for the chain tensioner in the direction of the -arrow- and then lock the chain tensioner using a 3.3 mm drill bit -item 4-.
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and chain tensioner, chain sprocket -3- from the balance shaft and the chain.
