Overview - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor

WARNING:

When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

Route lines of all types (for example for fuel, hydraulic, EVAP canister system, coolant and refrigerant, brake fluid, vacuum) and electrical wiring so that the original path is followed.
Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

NOTE:

After exhaust system repairs, make sure exhaust system is not under stress and that it has sufficient clearance from the bodywork. If necessary, loosen double clamps and clamp and align exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and support rings carry uniform loads.

Replace the self-locking nuts.

NOTE:

If the particulate filter or the Differential Pressure Sensor -G505- was replaced, then the Differential Pressure Sensor -G505- must absolutely be adapted using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester: Guided Functions; adapting Differential Pressure Sensor -G505-.

Installed location for the connector. Refer to Fig 2

Oxygen Sensor 1 before Catalytic Converter -GX10-
- 50 Nm
- With Heated Oxygen Sensor -G39-
- With Oxygen Sensor Heater -Z19-
- Grease only the threads with Hot Bolt Paste: G 052 112 A3 ; Hot Bolt Paste: G 052 112 A3 must not get into the slots on the probe body
- To remove, use Ring Wrench 7-Piece Set: 3337
- Removing and installing. Refer to Oxygen Sensor 1 before Catalytic Converter -GX10-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, ENGINE CODES CASA, CASD .
Nut
- 23 Nm
- Replace
- Lubricate with hot bolt paste. Refer to the Parts Information for hot bolt paste.
Turbocharger
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1 -G235-
- 45 Nm
- Lubricate with hot bolt paste. Refer to the Parts Information for hot bolt paste.
- Removing and installing. Refer to Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1 -G235-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, CASA, CASD .
Differential Pressure Sensor -G505-
- Removing and installing. Refer to Differential Pressure Sensor -G505-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, CASA, CASD .
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 -G495-
- 45 Nm
- Lubricate with hot bolt paste. Refer to the Parts Information for hot bolt paste.
- Removing and installing. Refer to Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 -G495-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, CASA, CASD .
