Catalytic Converter, Removing And Installing, Left (Bank 2): Removing
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Socket and Jointed Extension - 12mm:T40220
Hybrid vehicles have a high voltage system! Danger of electrical shock! When performing the following work, it is also necessary to work on the high voltage system. De-energize the high voltage system now. Refer to .
-- Remove the engine compartment cover. Refer to ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Release the pilot contact -1- from the electric drive power and control electronics and remove it. Release and remove the high voltage cables -2, 3 and 4- in sequence.
-- Remove the power steering fluid reservoir and move it to the side. The hoses remain connected.
-- Unclip the connector -A- and remove the bracket for the high voltage cables -arrows-. Move the high voltage cables with the bracket to the side.
-- Remove the Oxygen Sensor 2 after Catalytic Converter -G131-.
-- Remove the nut -2- accessible from above using the Socket and Jointed Extension - 12mm:T40220 .
-- Remove the mountings for the catalytic converter and the coolant pipes -arrows-.
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the left front muffler -A-.
-- Remove the heat shield -1- for the universal joint -2-.
- Separate universal joint from steering gear only when front wheels are in straight ahead position.
- Do not change steering wheel position and steering gear position any more, secure steering wheel with adhesive tape.
-- Remove the universal joint -1- from the steering gear.
Have the drip tray for the coolant ready.
-- Remove the hoses from the coolant pipes -2-.
-- Remove the coolant pipes from the transmission.
-- Remove nuts -1- and -3- (accessible from the bottom) from front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold connection.
-- Push the universal joint and coolant pipes to the side and pivot the catalytic converter downward.
